Our Culture

My friend Ryan had an interesting post a few days ago about where God has him right now.  I’m wondering the same thing about myself.

Last night in my class two young women were talking about their weekly trek to Canon City to visit the father’s of their babies.  Their “men” are in prison.  The fact that they are in Canon City means they are in federal prison.

Jesus said,

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,     19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”  Luke 4:18-19

If taken quite literally, I think Jesus meant the people I’m working with.  And, the ones Ryan is working with.
